Pattern Moʻolelo: Kauila

The Kauila motif honors Kānekauilanuimākēhāikalani—a sacred kinolau of Kāne manifesting as lightning, atmospheric electricity, and environmental transition. The pattern channels the natural energy of shifting seasons, grounding the wearer as we move into kau hoʻoilo (the wet, cooler winter months).

Each back panel is individually stamped by hand in our Richmond studio using traditional kāpala techniques and non-toxic water-based inks, creating subtle, one-of-a-kind variations across every piece.

  • Fit & Sizing: Relaxed, boxy unisex cut. Preshrunk. Model is 5'7", 164 lbs, 32" waist, wearing a size Medium.

  • Circular Construction: 100% natural plant fibers with a soft bamboo neck label. Sheds zero microplastics in the wash and is completely biodegradable at end of life.

  • Studio Dispatch: Hand-finished and dispatched directly from Richmond, CA.
